Queen of Hearts Crop

This past week-end I participated in the Queen of Hearts crop over at Scrap Attack Scrapbooking.

There were 8 fun challenges and because of the offer by my awesome DH to take Katie to the birthday party of one of her friends on Saturday I was able to complete them all. There were also several games and impromptu challenges. If you missed this one, come on over to the board and check out the monthly challenges. That way you'll be around for the next crop.

This picture still makes me laugh.

1} This was a menu challenge.
My menu:
Appetizer - Butter Poached Lobster Salad - die-cut paper
Side Dish - Steamed Spinach - 1 photo
Main Course - Beef Wellington - embellies my choice
Dessert - Molten Mocha Cake - pink
Beverage - Shirley Temple - journaling strips
Mandatory Item: Hershey Kiss - heart

2} We were to do some type of paper folding - I made the paper flower, hadn't done this type before and it was easy and fun. Papers are by Dream Street.

Pictures are of Katie opening her gifts after her birthday party - the favorite was her first Webkinz, a black kitten she named Ava and loves to this day. Ava sleeps with her and often goes on adventures with us.

3} For this challenge we were to use "love" in the title or journaling. This picture is of DH's nephew and his bride. The papers are by Cosmo Cricket.

4}More wedding pictures - we were to use a love song for the title or journaling.

5}We needed to find something in our stash we didn't like and alter it to work for our layout. I had the Stampin Up! silver star brad I wanted to use, but it was to shiny for this distressed layout - so I rubbed it into the Staz-On Timber Brown ink pad.

Pictures are of us feeding the donkeys in Custer State Park, South Dakota.

6} Another hand made paper embellishment, the heart flower. After a couple failed attempts, I really like how this one turned out. Great way to use up some of those odd scraps of pp. Papers are Basic Grey.

7} We were to use a playing card or card element on our layout. I chose a heart, since I was trying to get these wedding pictures scrapped.

8} Scrapping someone or something that has stolen my heart was an easy challenge in some ways, my family means a lot to me and I have a ton of pictures - the hardest part was deciding which pictures to scrap. These pictures are of Katie and me at Disney in 2007. Papers are 3 Bugs in a Rug.

To top it off I won two of the impromptu challenges and one of the games. But, the best surprise was getting the "Queen of the Crop" charm, who doesn't want to be Queen? I've already spent my gift certificate on some items from the Pre-order section. Thank you to Lauri and the fabulous Design Team for putting together this fabulous crop.

Now I need to get back to scrapping so I can use up some of my stash before this next order comes in.

Thank you for stopping by.
