Mr. Grinch!

Who doesn't love the story of "the Grinch that stole Christmas"?  If you have a Grinch in your family, you NEED to make some of these tags!  I used mostly punches and a few things cut by hand.  I lifted the idea from lizzier on Splitcoast Stampers.

Angel tag

On the 7th day of Christmas I made a monochromatic angel tag with a pop of dark red.  The angel was saved from a Christmas card, just because it was so darn cute!  I added gold Stickles to the halo and stamped then heat embossed the stars on the background.  To make the crinkled ribbon, I threaded it through the tag as usual, then hit it with the heat gun.  Don't want to do it too much, or it will melt and not be the pretty crinkle look you want.

On the 6th day of Christmas I made a tag with stamps and misting.

tag within a tag

On the 5th day of Christmas - we are to use a tag within a tag.  I fussy cut the candy canes and bow from a Christmas card.  the To: From: tag is a stamp I've had forever and hasn't seen ink for a while - glad to put it to use.

Christmas tag 4

On the 4th day of Christmas we are to use a stamp.  I used my Stampin up! paint print set and made the poinsettia by stamping twice, cutting out the flower, layering it and adding 3 gold brads.  All papers are scraps from Stampin Up holiday papers.

Christmas tags 2 and 3

2nd day of Christmas - use 2 colors of mist.  I used a snowflake stencil and misted with blue and gold.  The bottom border is a sticker and the snowman was saved from a Christmas card.

3 day of Christmas - make a Christmas tree.  I love how this one turned out and if I find a bit of time I will make a few more.  Using all scraps with a little stitching and added a star brad.

On the 1st day of Christmas - I made a tag with a vintage image and inked the edges.  This is for the tag challenge at Scrap 'N Chat.

Gift card holder

For the card challenge at Scrap 'N Chat I am challenging you to make a gift card holder.

I used the directions on the Better Homes and Gardens site - http://www.bhg.com/christmas/cards/gift-card-holders/  there are several to choose from.  I made the coaster card holder.  I love the look and feel of this one.  Now I need to find some more coasters.  LOL

no guts no glory

Here we are carving our pumpkin in 2009.  Katie designed a kitten face, turned out so cute!

The sketch is from My sketch World

At my Scraps & More  this layout fit into Julie's 3*2*1 challenge.  I used 3+ pp stripe, plaid and other; 2+ embellies twine, bling, dimensional flowers; 1+ technique  spray and stamp.

At Scrap 'N Chat I completed the Blitz Bingo from Oct. 5th.  I stamped, misted, used a button, orange, and twine.

kit swap

Over at My Scraps & More they are having a "kit swap".  We each put together a kit with 3 pp and 4 embellies.  Here's my kit from Juliee.  Wow, look at the pretty papers and embellies.  Now I need to figure out a way to use them!  Looks like possibly a "girly" layout coming up.

Sweet ride

Sketch from My Scraps & More sketch blog.  For my stamping challenge at Scrap 'N Chat I used a Stampin Up! Antique Cracking  stamp with Creamy Caramel stamped off on the yellow to tone it down a bit.

Our 2 daughters - Halloween 1984.  Sketch #343 from Sketch Inspiration.  Ribbon flower challenge from Scrap 'N Chat.

meeting Charlotte

Jim and I went to David and Caroline Higgins wedding last week-end in Austin, Texas.  I got to hold our great niece Charlotte Ann Higgins.  She is Jim and Julie's first granddaughter after 2 grandsons and she's just so adorable and looks so much like her Daddy, Ryan.  Here's the quilt I made for her.

arsenic poison

Sketch from My Scraps & More.  Art challenge from Scrap 'N Chat.  Photos of Melissia in the school costume parade - one of my favorite costumes I'd made the girls for Halloween.

EEEK!

I LOVE the story these photos tell.  We took Katie to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.  She didn't like being in the fairy costume, kept staring at us in the face paint - she was really taking everything in.  But you can tell how comfortable she was snuggling up on my lap.  Can you tell I love this little girl?  Color challenge from Scrap 'N Chat.

I'm Scarier than you!

Here's my take on the sketch from Scrap 'N chat.

Our girls were seldom dressed as anything scary, so had to use this title on this layout.  Since the photo's had so much orange in them it was a good time to pull out all those black, green and purple papers.

2 wheels

I found these photos of Melissia riding her bike after we had taken the training wheels off.  The photos are blurry, but it's such an important milestone for a child I decided to scrap them anyway.  The sketch is a lift challenge from Scrap N Chat.

When we got out the Halloween decorations Katie found the black cat costume I'd made for Jennifer years ago.  I had to shorten the legs, but otherwise it fit well.  Katie made and adorable cat!  2009

Celebrating!

Today the 6 of us went to Animal Kingdom to celebrate my Birthday a day early.  We were there early before the crowds and the mid-day heat kicked in.  The line wait was only 10-20 minutes at the rides.  We had lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe.  Was a great day!

Silhouette card challenge and tutorial

My September card challenge at Scarp 'N Chat is to create a Silhouette card.  The tutorial for this card is below.

You will need to cut a circle or oval from the center of a piece of vellum.  I used yellow so you could see it easily.

Use a bit of temporary adhesive on the vellum to keep it from sliding on the cardstock.  Cover the opening with VersaMark.

Use cotton swabs to apply your chalks to create a sunset or landscape effect.

I did two different colors and two different shapes.  Wipe the chalked area well.  Remove the vellum.
Choose solid type stamps.  Stamp with black ink and use black embossing powder to make it stand out against the background.

Layer and embellish your cards.
