Christmas Cards for Troops #8

For the next challenge we were to use a Christmas card we've received or made in the past and give it a fun facelift!

I loved the pretty embossed paper, so used that portion only and kept the card very simple. Added the punched border, bling, chipboard from Scenic Route and ribbon from my stash.

Christmas Cards for Troops #7

The next challenge is to use Non-Christmas patterned paper on your card.

I used Pink Paislee Amber Road
found at the Scrap Attack Scrapbooking store.

The other card was done using My Minds Eye Warm Asparagus.

Christmas Cards for Troops #6

This challenge was to use a stamp. I decided to use all stamps on this card. I had seen this done on someones blog, but now can't find it. If I run across it again, I'll post the link. I masked off the rectangle, stamped with VersaMark then used Stampin Up! chalks to color the trees. Removed the mask and stamped the large tree with ink, added a little Radiant Pearls Golden Honey to look like snow. The greeting is embossed with black.

Christmas Cards for Troops #5

We are to use a sketch from Page Maps. Here are my cards.

The first one is Scenic Route patterned paper and greeting. The flourish is a stamp by Autumn Leaves. I sprayed the cardstock with Glimmer Mist Pink Taffy.

The second one is made with papers from DCWV. The tree stickers are unknown. I sprayed the papers with Glimmer Mist Olive Vine.

Ocean Phobia

So when is a "beach vacation" not a "beach vacation"? It's when your granddaughter tells you after you get there that she has "Ocean Phobia"! We spent 3 days at an ocean side resort and never once went to the beach. Katie found so many other ways to keep us and herself busy it didn't seem to matter that we drug all the sand toys, mats, umbrella and chairs along - but weren't used. Maybe another time!

Christmas Cards for Troops #4

Our 4th challenge is to make a "wintery" card. Here's mine. I used a snow people stamp by Stampin Up!, patterned paper is Basic Grey, spritzed on some Distress Ink combined with blue Perfect Pearls so the white card wasn't so white. I also added some Crystal Effects on the large snowflake brads, snowballs and a few spots of the snow people. The other card is also a Stampin Up! stamp, the flourish is by Autumn Leaves which I stamped in white and embosses in a mixture of white and clear. The greeting is a rub-on. Patterned paper is by Scenic Route.

June DT layouts

One of the best things about working with Scrap Attack Scrapbooking Design Team kits is that you often get papers you hadn't thought about buying for your layouts. Lauri sent me Moxxie Chillin Out line, Chatterbox Artsy.licious foil engraved cardstock, Rose Moka Design Appel de la Nature and Equinoxe. While I hadn't given these papers a second thought I love how they all work together to make some fun summer pages. Thanks for a great kit Lauri!!!

Christmas Cards for Troops #3

For our second challenge we were to create an ornament out of scraps. The Stamp Set is Peaceful Wishes from Stampin Up! Papers are from DCWV and American Crafts, the metallic foil board is by Grafix that I ran through the crimper.

Christmas Cards for Troops #2

Our second challenge is to do a card with embossing - either wet, dry or both. I chose to do wet embossing, the technique Cracked Glass using UTEE. The Stamp Set is Christmas Cardinal from Stampin Up! Papers are from DCWV.

Christmas Cards for Troops

On Scrap Attack Scrapbooking we are kicking off a month long project to make Christmas cards for the troops! We will be donating to Operation Write Home. Their sole purpose is the donation of handmade cards to the troops.

The {SAS}sy Team has put together a total of 9 challenges to help create Christmas cards for the soldiers. A new challenge will be posted every Monday and Thursday with our first challenge kicking off on June 3rd and ending on July 1st, 2010.

The first challenge was to make a card with a tree on it. Here's my cards (I made an extra) using a tree stamp from Stampin Up! Holiday Hannah and papers by Basic Grey.

Rockabilly

Check out the new line of papers over at Paper Trunk, called Rockabilly.

Rockin', Creepers, Cherry, Daddy-O, Ginchiest, and Greaser
...all named after hip slang from the Rockabilly era. These designs are classic with a touch of distressing to give this collection a cool edge.

card sketch

The June card challenge at Scrap Attack Scrapbooking is a fun sketch. I moved the flowers to work with my tag greeting, but otherwise I followed the sketch. The flowers and tag are from Chatterbox.

Ad challenge for June

Our ad challenge this month at Scrap Attack Scrapbooking is to use this ad.

I liked the partial circle in the bottom right and the ribbons dangling in the middle of the page - so went with those.

Feel free to use anything from the ad as your inspiration. If you do this challenge, please share it with us - we love to ooo and ahhh over layouts.
