transformation
When we got out the Halloween decorations Katie found the black cat costume I'd made for Jennifer years ago. I had to shorten the legs, but otherwise it fit well. Katie made and adorable cat! 2009

Celebrating!
Today the 6 of us went to Animal Kingdom to celebrate my Birthday a day early. We were there early before the crowds and the mid-day heat kicked in. The line wait was only 10-20 minutes at the rides. We had lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe. Was a great day!

Silhouette card challenge and tutorial
My September card challenge at Scarp 'N Chat is to create a Silhouette card. The tutorial for this card is below.
Use a bit of temporary adhesive on the vellum to keep it from sliding on the cardstock. Cover the opening with VersaMark.
Use cotton swabs to apply your chalks to create a sunset or landscape effect.
I did two different colors and two different shapes. Wipe the chalked area well. Remove the vellum.
You will need to cut a circle or oval from the center of a piece of vellum. I used yellow so you could see it easily.

Choose solid type stamps. Stamp with black ink and use black embossing powder to make it stand out against the background.
Layer and embellish your cards.

Be our Guest
A layout of Jim's sister and her husbands visit to Ocoee, December 2009. Papers are a mixture of Basic Grey, Love Elsie and unknown. I made the little tree, adding sequins and beads, plus green mulberry paper to the right of the ribbon. I used the extra Thickers to make star (or maybe they are snowflakes - use your imagination LOL) embellishments.

Baby quilts - I have been making baby quilts for several nieces and nephews and now for our great nieces and nephews.
I finished the top quilt for a great nephew, Liam; born June 2011..
The second photo is of two great nephews. Connor was born March 15th 2010 and his brother Carter was born May 28th, 2012.
This has been a busy year for babies. I have 2 more quilts to make. A great niece, Madeline was born June 14 and another was little girl, Charlotte Ann on July 29th.

3rd grade
The third graders at Thornebrooke grew by several students the week before school was to start. The staff had to make a decision to have the classes close to full capacity (18 in FL) and hope no one moves in during the year. Or get another room ready. They chose the second option. They pulled 2 students from each class and put them in P20. That makes 8 rooms of 3rd grades. The school just keeps growing. The teacher is TBA, they have a substitute until someone is hired. Luckily Katie and her BFF, Taylor were both pulled and put in the class together. Should be another interesting year. The photo was taken at "meet the teacher" Friday afternoon.
Have a wonderful 1st day Katie and Taylor - love you both!
